One of the University of Alabamas all-time greatest linemen...two-way player for Coach Paul Bear Bryants first Alabama teams In 1958-61...All.SEC as a junior and senior and consensus All-America as a senior...defensive captain of Alabamas 1961 national championship team, which went 11-0 and allowed only 25 points...drafted second by the Washington Redskins of the NFL and third by the Boston (New England) Patriots of the AFL...signed with Boston, played four years there, and was traded to Miami Dolphins, where he played four more years before retiring.. .team captain at both Boston and Miami...named to the All-Pro team three times.. member of one AFC Championship team and played in the Pro Bowl two years after the leagues merged...inducted into Alabama Sports Hall of Fame...inducted into Huntsvilles Athletic Booster Club (ABC) Hall of Fame...a Huntsville stockbroker for many years.
