Born in Gadsden in 1941, moved to Huntsville in 1944...attended public schools in Huntsville at Fifth Avenue, Huntsville Junior High and Huntsville High...lettered in football, basketball and track at Huntsville High School...MVP in football for the city in 1958 and second team All-State...received a scholarship to play for Paul Bear Bryant at the University of Alabama, where he lettered on the 1961 national championship team and again In 1962 and 1963. Named to the All-SEC football team and made second team All-America in 1963...had an 50-yard touchdown run against Auburn in 63...played in the Senior Bowl at Mobile In 1964...played for Houston Oilers in 1964...coached high school football at Arab and later went into private business...owns a materials packaging company in Madison.
