Born in 1923 in Dallas, Texas - moved to Madison County in 1937...played football for Coach Milton Frank at Huntsville High, where he was All-Southern in 1941 and All-State in 1942...also lettered In basketball and tennis...All-District performer in basketball...was also a top volleyball player...tagged Rowan the Ripper by Huntsville Times sports writer, P.I. Pruitt.. frequently scored all of Huntsville's points in a football game...only HHS athlete ever to win the Acme Club Award three times as best all-around athlete...played college football at the University of Tennessee in the single wing offense...played in the Orange Bowl as freshman...now retired...his son, Robby, played football for Coach Paul Bear Bryant at Alabama.
