Rabbit Thomas was born in Madison County and attended Council High School were he made All City in Football in 1965. In 1966 and in 1967, Rabbit attended Butler High School and made All City, All NC, and All State in Football. After graduation from Butler, he signed a football scholarship with Florence State University. In 1969, he was voted the Most Valuable Offense Back and was selected as a member of the Mid-South Conference Team in both 1969 and 1970. The honors continued for Rabbit the next year as he was named as a Little All American. Rabbit did not single out any one person for helping him but is grateful for having the opportunity to be around good people such as Marion Blackburn, Marion Tibbs, Condredge Holloway Sr., Adam Kellum and Coach John Meadows. In 1996 he was inducted into the U.N.A. Hall of Fame and presently resides in Huntsville with his wife and children.
