Born June 25, 1936, in Hodges, S.C., he moved to Huntville in 1960...ran track and played football and baseball in high school...graduate of Clemson University.. as a member of the Huntsville Track Club, he and his wife Louise have directed the annual Rocket City Marathon, one of the nations finest, every year since 1977..his wife is a a member of the Road Runners of Americas Hall of Fame, and his son, Harold Jr., was the fastest 10-year-old marathoner in the wolid. He is past president of the RRCA and served on the Athletic Congress board of directors. He ran a 2:33.05 marathon at age of 41...won the National RRCA 10-k masters championship at the Peachtree race in Atlanta In 77...an electrical engineer...he and his wife edit and publish the Huntsville Track Club News.
