Joyce Walker has received national, state, and local acclaim for her bowling, writing, photography, bowling displays, and bowling publicity. She is an inducted member of the Huntsville Womens Bowling Hall of Fame and the Alabama State Womens Bowling Hall of Fame. Joyce began bowling in 1974 and has competed in 12 national, 22 state, and 22 local singles bowling championships with high scores of 648 for a series and 258 for a single game. She has been a writer for the Huntsville Bowling Association for 18 years and has served as editor for the state publication Pin Tales, the North Alabama Sports Page, and the Alabama Briefs. Joyce has won national awards for her bowling publicity campaigns including two second place awards for bowling displays and a second place award for Editor and Best State Newsletter. In 1984, Joyce was on the City Champion Singles Handicap team and the City Champion Doubles team. In 1986, she won tournament high awards for high scratch game, high handicap game, and high handicap series. Joyce has bowled on League Championship teams in 1983, 1984, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994. She is currently serving as 1st Vice President of the Huntsville Womens Bowling Association, Director of the Alabama Womens Bowling Association, and Director of the Southeastern Tournament Association.
