Born In Huntsville in 1933...played football and basketball at Huntsville High, was fIrst team quarterback for two years ahead of Bobby Luna, who later played for Alabama and the 49ers.He was a varsity tennis player for four years...state high school tennis champion, singles and doubles...first Huntsville player to win a state championship. He was named best all-around athlete at HHS...played tennis at Tennessee, was All-SEC...was No. 1 player at Rollins College for two years, and an All-America and an NCAA top 10 player...played on the national tennis circuit, including U.S. National singles and doubles..has been a college coach, a tennis pro, and an Episcopal minister...he and his brother Brick put Huntsville on the tennis map in the 1950s.
