Bob Warden spent the majority of his life in Huntsville, attending Wills Taylor School, site of the old Huntsville Junior High, and Huntsville High School at the old school site on Clinton Avenue. Coach Warden went on to prep school at St. Andrews in Sewanee, Tennessee and spent his summers working for the Huntsville YMCA. Coach Warden attended college at Middle Tennessee State where he excelled as a basketball player and as a punter/kicker for the football team. Bob began his coaching career at Central High School in Nashville, and following a brief stint in the Army, returned to Huntsville to continue his career. Coach Warden served Huntsville High School in a number of capacities over the next 30+ years. From 1946 until 1958, he was the head basketball coach and an assistant football coach under the late Milton Frank. Coach Warden then moved into the main office, working as an Assistant Principal at Huntsville High from 1958 until 1961. He moved back to the basketball court in 1961, and resumed his head coaching duties until 1965. Coach Warden is remembered by his former players as a strict disciplinarian who loved his boys, and stressed oneness, staying in shape, and team play.
