Born in 1931 at Columbia, Tennessee, he moved to Madison County in 1964,..Southeastern Conference football official for 30 years (1960-89),and one of the most respected officials in the nation...past presdient of the SEC Football Officials Associatlon...past chief umpire of the SEC...has worked four Independence Bowls, two Fiestas, one Peach, one Bluebonnet, one Orange and one Liberty.. .worked Bear Bryants 315th victory...worked the 1981 national championship game between Clemson and Penn State and the 1986 natIonal championship game between Penn State and Miami...played football, basketbal and baseball in high school...played football at Vanderbilt from 1950-54, and was captain of the 54 team...third team All-SEC guard and All-SEC Academic team.. played In North-South Shrine Bowl in 54. Now an insurance manager.
