Adam Williamson began his coaching career in 1962 at Fairfield High School. He became the head coach of the Fairfield football and track teams in 1970. In 1973, he moved to Huntsville and became the head track coach and an assistant football coach at Grissom High School. During his tenure at Grissom, Coach Williamson has fielded 6 State Champion teams with over 40 individual state champion athletes. His Tiger track teams have also won numerous City and Region Titles and produced dozens of collegiate track athletes. Coach Williamson has served as a member of the Alabama State Track Committee since his election in 1975, and established three state-wide track competitions hosted in the Huntsville area: The Rocket City Track and Field Meet, The Buffalo Rock Invitational, and The Pepsi Cola Rocket City Relays. He has served as the meet director for the Alabama High School Athletic Associations multi event competition since 1988. Coach Williamson was also the co-founder of the Rocket City Track Club, a summer track program that competes in the A.A.U. Junior Olympics, which has produced three individual National Champion athletes. In his spare time, Coach Williamson enjoys serving as a meet official for collegiate track meets including numerous S.E.C. Championships, N.C.A.A. Championships, and the Olympic Trials.
