Steve Wilson was an outstanding football player first at Lee High School then at Auburn University. While at Lee, Steve was named to the All-City Team twice and was named the Most Valuable Player for the city following his senior season. Steve was also named to the All-State and All-Mid South football teams. While attending Lee, Steve was also awarded the Scholar-Athlete Award for Madison County for his high academic achievements. Steve also won awards as an All-District and All-State wrestler twice at Lee. Steve signed a football scholarship to Auburn University. While at Auburn, Steve played in two Gator Bowls and one Sugar Bowl. He was a member of the Auburn Lettermans Club (A Club) three years and served as the Vice President for two years. During Steves years at Auburn, the Tigers beat Florida 4 times, Georgia 3 out of 4 times, and Tennessee and Alabama 3 consecutive years. Steve was named to the Deans List at Auburn in 1973 continuing his record of high academic, as well as athletic, success.
