Keith Wilson began his athletic career at West End High School in Birmingham, AL where he earned All-City, All State, and All-Southern awards in football. In 1953, he scored a record 15 touchdowns in leading his West End team to the State Championship. He also won the state pole vault championship and finished second in the 880 yard dash while at West End. Keith went on to star as a three-year starter as a quarterback/halfback at Kansas State University, where he was named Honorable Mention Big 8. Keith Wilson began his coaching career in 1961 at Jones Valley High School in Birmingham. He became head football coach at Jones Valley in 1963. Coach Wilson returned to Huntsville as the head football coach and athletic director at Lee High School in 1964. He remained at Lee until 1974 when he took over administrative duties first at Whitesburg Junior High School and then at Westlawn Middle School. Coach Wilson returned to the football field in 1987 as the head Coach at Butler High School where he served until his retirement from the Alabama School System in 1989. Since 1991, Coach Wilson has served as the head football coach in Huntland, Tennessee. He lists among the best players he has had the opportunity to coach: Paul Parvin, Condredge Holloway, Keith Butler, and Dave Beck.
