Ralph Malone was born in Huntsville and attended Bob Jones High School. His senior year at Bob Jones, he was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year in the county and was named to the 3A All-State team. Bobby Jackson, Athletic Director at Bob Jones, had this to say about Ralph, He was one of the most outstanding to ever come out of Bob Jones High School. He was one of the most dominating players in Bob Jones History. Ralph was one of the most highly recruited players ever to come out of the county and signed a full scholarship with Georgia Tech. Allen Wayne Paseur, Bob Jones Football Coach, said when he signed with Georgia Tech, Ralph potentially can be a great football player and could have a career in it even past college. Hes an extremely intelligent player and is very coachable because of that. After a great career at Georgia Tech, Ralph was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and in 1986 was named as the Maurice Basset Most Outstanding Rookie with the Browns. He continued playing in the NFL with the Los Angles Raiders and the Miami Dolphins as a Defensive End and Special Team Players until 1989. At this time, he returned to Huntsville and went to work with Triana Industries, Inc. as the Engineering Manager until 1991. In 1991, he became the Plant Superintendent and in 1994 was named as the President/CEO of Triana Industries. This will be the third Hall of Fame into which Ralph has been inducted; the first was the Bob Jones High School Hall of Fame and the other was the Huntsville Athletic Booster Club Hall of Fame. He has received the 20 Distinguished Young Men of Huntsville Leadership Award and in 2005 was named as the Mentor of the Year for Economic Development awarded by the 100 Black Men of America Organization. When asked about who has had the greatest influence on this life he responded, The persons who have had the greatest impact on my athletic accomplishments are my late Dad and Mom. They instilled a work and moral ethic that was instrumental not only in my athletic endeavors but also in all endeavors, even until today. Their motto was, Simply be the best in whatever you do.
