Rolo Weaver, born in Huntsville, started his athletic career at age 6, when he began playing basketball, baseball and football in the YMCA programs of Huntsville. At Ed White Middle School, he started to excel in football and baseball under the leadership of Coach Jim Pucket. At Butler High School, he played football, basketball and baseball and achieved All-Star status in Football and Baseball. As a Sophomore at Butler, he was selected to the All-Tennessee Valley Conference and All-City Football team and he played for the Lions Club All-Stars in baseball. In his Junior year, he again made the All-TVC and the All-City Football Teams and led the Rebels to the state semifinals. In his Senior year, he was selected to his third All-TVC and All-City Football Teams. He was also the Captain of the Football and Basketball teams during his Senior year and played in the North/South All-Star Football Game and the Lions Club All-Star Baseball Game. In 1975, he signed a football scholarship with Jacksonville State University. While at Jacksonville, he was a starter for three years. Rolo was a very versatile player at JSU, playing defensive back, wide receiver, and fullback. He played for the JSU National Championship Team his Junior year and they were in the playoffs his Senior year. Rolo credits his Mom and Dad, Chuck & Lillian, for giving him their faith and support in his personal life, as well as the opportunity for athletics. They told me, you can do anything you desire to do. Their encouraging voices and faces are now memories that sustain me as I continue to walk the path of life. Rolo credits Coaches Jim Pucket, John Meadows, Max Kelly, Doug Stiles, Glenn Stowe, Clarke Mayfield and Watson Brown for helping him through all his athletic successes. Rolo says that, Bo Emerson pushed me as a competitor when we played against each other in high school and it is nice to be inducted into the Hall of Fame with my lifetime friend and college roommate. In addition, Rolo says, Coach Meadows taught me more about football than any other coach, and a lot about life. Rolo and his wife, Debbie, have one son, Tyler, and one daughter, Erin, and one grandson, Nash. Rolo has been the owner of Rolos Restaurant for the last 19 years.
