Head football coach at Alabama A&M University from 1960 until 1975...took over the A&M program at a time when the school did not award athletic grants and built it into a powerhouse...won his first Magic City Classic over Alabama State in 1960 and then won It seven times in a row...an outstanding running back for Alabama A&M in the late 1930s, he scored the first-ever touchdown In the Magic City Classic...came to Huntsville In 1936...also coached baseball at Alabama A&M...educational background Includes Dunbar High, Alabama A&M, Ohio State, Yale, New York Tech and Indiana University...inducted Into Huntsvilles Athletic Booster Club (ABC) Hall of Fame...Born March 28, 1917, at Bessemer, Ala.
