(1910-1967)...Born in Nashville...played football (guard) for Gen. Bob Neyland at the University of Tennessee...Teammate of Herman Hickman and Beattle Feathers...succeeded Jesse Keene as football coach at Huntsville High in 1934.. won 81 games in 12 seasons...one of only four HHS coaches to take a basketball team to the boys state tournament...His 35 basketball team went 30-4...worked at Redstone Arsenal in 1946...His 1946 HHS football team, with Brick Warden at quarterback, was undefeated and untied....entered private business in 46 as co-owner of Rose Jewelry In Huntsville and Decatur...civic leader and member of Temple B'Nai Shalom...chaired the drive to build a stadium, later named In his honor...Inducted Into Huntsvilles Athletic Booster Club (ABC) Hall of Fame...sons Buster and Butch played for Paul Bear Bryant at Alabama.
