Teacher and football coach in the Huntsville school system for 37 years, first at William H.Councill High School and later at Davis Hills Middle School...coached Councill Fighting Tigers for 19 years between 1946-65, with only two losing seasons while compiling 110 victories. His 1951 team outscored opponents 436-28, and his last team in 65 outscored opponents 260-25...won North Alabama High School Athletic Association championships in 1951, 1952, 1953, 1956, 1957, 1959, 1960 and 1965. Played a regional schedule against teams from Chattanooga, Knoxville-Memphis, Pulaski, Tuscaloosa, Gadsden and Birmingham...inducted into Huntsvilles Athletic Booster Club (ABC) Hall of Fame...Alpha Kappa Alphas Hall of Fame for outstanding achievement in sports, 1980.
