First-team All-American high school football player at Huntsville High in 1950...All-TVC and All-Southern in football, All-TVC In basketball, also lettered in baseball...lettered four years (1951-54) in football at the University of Alabama under Coach Red Drew. All-SEC in 1953, second team Look All-America in 1952...caught an 87 yard touchdown pass from Albert Elmore in 1954...kicked a 28 yard field goal to beat Auburn in 1953, giving Alabama the SEC championship and a Cotton Bowl bid played in the Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl...drafted by San Francisco 49ers in 1955, started as defensive back and punter...played Army football in 1956-57...assistant coach under Bear Bryant at Alabama In 1958...coach with Pittsburgh Steelers in 1959..now a general contractor In Franklin, Tennessee.
