Huntsville Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame

The Beginning

March 14, 1989

Vaughn Stewart, noted caricature artist, originated the idea of a sports hall of fame for the Madison County area. Initial talks with Frank Campbell (local golf legend) led to contacting James Record (famous local politician) because of his vast knowledge of the local history and personal contacts within Madison County. He graciously accepted the idea and position as Chairman and the Hall of Fame was born. One by one, the original board was formed - all enthusiastically accepted their roles.
